For the last few years, I have been doing my lesson plans online using Planboard, and the best part… it’s totally FREE!!! Planboard is a digital lesson planning website and app that can be used to plan multiple subject areas and can be used year after year. Teachers can also integrate state standards and share their curriculum with other educators.
Steps to get started:
- Create your free account with Chalk.com.
- Set up your semester using your school start and end date- you can do 1 semester for the entire year if you’re teaching the same students all year.
- Set the subject areas you will be teaching. You can also color code subjects.
- You have the option to add curriculum based on subject area, grade level, and standards.
- Set up your schedule rotation/timetable.
Another feature that I love is that I can easily track my lesson plans that I did the previous year at the same time of the month. For example, I knew that I wanted to teach “Tell-Tale Heart” again the during the week of Halloween, so I went back to the week of Oct. 31st, 2018 and effortlessly copied my lessons to same week for 2019. You can also move lessons forward or back as needed.
Planboard has everything I need to stay organized, and it’s easily customizable. What do you use to plan your lessons? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
