In my classes, we first listen to the audio version of the story. Then we read it together and discuss rhyme scheme. If your students need to review this skill, here’s a short video that explains it well. Then students identify the rhyme scheme of Twas the Night Before Christmas and students as well as any figurative language, and point of view. Afterwards they complete the holiday figurative language task cards and the writing activity.
