ELA Halloween Digital Escape Room #1

Students’ jobs are to work through each of the “rooms” in order to get out in time for the current Halloween.

1- Read an informational text on the history of Halloween . Then students will answer comprehension questions on author’s purpose, context clues, and more.
2- Complete a Halloween figurative language drag and drop. This covers similes, metaphors, personification, and alliteration. Then they will put together a jigsaw puzzle that gives them the final clue for the code.
3- Read a modified/shortened version of “The Monkey’s Paw” and answer comprehension/critical thinking questions.
4- Watch a short Edpuzzle video (NO LOGIN REQUIRED) and answer questions as they view the video.

Halloween #2 – Spooky Escape Room- Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, & More

Students are trying to “escape their fears.” Their job is to work through each of the “rooms” in order to escape in time for the current Halloween.

1- Read the short story, “The Elevator” by William Sleator. Answer comprehension questions on author’s purpose, context clues, main idea, conflict, and more.
2- Identify parts of the plot from the story, “The Elevator.” They will drag & drop the boxes and put them in the correct location.
3- Watch a short Edpuzzle video (NO LOGIN REQUIRED) on tricks for overcoming fears and answer questions as they view the video.
4- Complete a Halloween figurative language drag and drop that covers similes, metaphors, personification, and alliteration.
